Sandra Stram



Sandra Stram (BA 85, MM 96) has been teaching strings in the local public schools (all levels) since 1987, working in Sweetwater, Poway and now S.D. Unified school district.

She has been the director of the Sweetwater District Orchestra (1987-2001) and Civic Youth Primary Orchestra, and also orchestra director at the Sweetwater Fine Arts and Arrowbear summer music camps.

In 2006 she was selected to direct the S.D.U.SD. all-district honor elementary orchestra, and received the David Paul Schuchman award for outstanding instrumental music teacher for 2005-06. She is also a judge for SCSBOA, with her groups consistently earning Superior ratings at SCSBOA festivals. Sandra has served on the Board of the San Diego Early Music Society and now plays with the Renaissance group “Courtly Noyse.”

She is a specialist in early string instrument performance. She performs on Baroque violin and viola da gamba throughout the San Diego area, frequently performing for the San Diego Early Music Society Old Masters series, and plays fiddle with the bands “The Swamp Critters” and  Judy Taylor’s “Wild Oats.”
